Chapter 344: Favour

Inside the office, Fatty burped satisfactorily from the food. Then, he started to clean up the table. He packaged the leftovers and kept them in the fridge. The ingredients Brother Pi Wan bought last time were still there. Fatty had to move a lot of things around before he found space for the leftovers.

“Brother Fugui!” Pi Wan greeted him kindly, “Later, I’ll get someone to deliver you some ham. It’s good for the body.”

“Thank you, but you can just talk to the Doctor about that,” Fatty replied. Fatty had a good impression of Pi Wan. The only thing he didn’t like was Pi Wan’s hairstyle, but that was nitpicking. He had no comments about Pi Wan’s reliance on rich women. If a rich lady fell for him, Fatty might do the same thing.

When Jiang Cheng burped and rubbed his belly, Pi Wan went over astutely. He removed the gloves and wiped his hands with the wet tissues. “Doctor Jiang,” Pi Wan asked with a smile, “You’re free today, right?”

Jiang Cheng leaned on the couch and answered, “I suppose so.”

“I have a small favour to ask from you.”

“About your girlfriend?” Jiang Cheng rambled without paying attention, “Haven’t I told you what to do?”

Pi Wan said sadly, “But the things you taught were useless.”

Jiang Cheng glanced at him, “Don’t call yourself that.”

Fatty had finished cleaning. He wanted to join them in the living room but when he saw Pi Wan’s face, he decided to stay in the kitchen. Pi Wan looked like he was about to cry. He should be discussing something with the Doctor. Fatty didn’t think he should show up.

“Pi Wan.” Jiang Cheng didn’t feel guilty for taking advantage of the man. He said directly, “I’ve already told you. It’s impossible for you to claim 70 percent of her estate. Thirty percent is the most.”

“Doctor Jiang, you know I’m not a bad person. However, other than a hotel, a few villas, and around ten cars, I have nothing.” Pi Wan pleaded, “My heart is so empty. I don’t feel safe.”

Fatty glanced at the new kitchen knife. “Doctor Jiang,” Pi Wan arched his back and probed, “How about… you give me another idea?” He licked his lips. “Once I succeed, anything extra I can…”

“I can’t help you,” Jiang Cheng interrupted.

Pi Wan was startled.

“Pi Wan,” Jiang Cheng sighed and his tone became gentle, “First, the things you have gained are enough for you to spend the rest of your life in luxury. Don’t be blinded by greed.

“Second,” Jiang Cheng continued, “Think about it. If you really get 70 percent, will your girlfriend’s descendants let you go? Your girlfriend is still alive, and things are already so chaotic. When she’s gone and no one is there to speak for you, what do you think will happen? Then, you’ll lose more than 70 percent. You’ll lose everything you have.” Jiang Cheng said, “You’ll really end up with nothing.”

Pi Wan looked conflicted. In the end, he said through gritted teeth, “I can get her to write me into her will, and I’ll get a notary.”

“Then, I have nothing to say to you.” Jiang Cheng stood up, “Leave and don’t come back.” Pi Wan didn’t think Jiang Cheng would react like this. He was the one who introduced him to the girlfriend and had taken a lot from their relationship. Why now…

When he heard that things weren’t right, Fatty hurried out of the kitchen. He rubbed his hands on his apron and tried to mediate. “I’m sure we can talk this out. Come. Let me cut some fruits for you. The wintermelon Brother Pi Wan brought last time is still in the fridge. It looks so sweet…” The Doctor had already moved up the stairs, but Fatty held him back.

“Doctor,” Fatty smiled at him. “Come and sit. We should finish the melon first.” Fatty pinched Jiang Cheng silently. The latter stood for a few seconds and turned back down the stairs. He was guided by Fatty back to his seat. He sat away from Pi Wan and had no smiles for him. ȒâΝƟᛒΕȘ

Fatty quickly appeared with the cut melon. He handed the largest one to the Doctor. The Doctor didn’t move. Fatty shoved it into his hands. When the Doctor took a bite, Pi Wan looked more relaxed. He could survive until then, thanks to Jiang Cheng.

Without Fatty having to say anything, Pi Wan picked a slice and started to eat. Fatty joined them. He tossed out a lot of conversation topics. He picked up a lot of them when he did odd jobs. Even though the topics were boring, the Doctor’s expression eventually softened. He even grabbed the melon pieces to eat on his own.

Fatty shot a look at Pi Wan. Pi Wan instantly stood up and told Jiang Cheng politely, “Doctor Jiang, you must be busy… I’ll be back… next time.”

After Jiang Cheng nodded silently, Pi Wan came alive. When Fatty walked him out, he pulled Fatty’s hands and kept thanking him. “Brother Fugui!” Pi Wan’s eyes watered. “Thank God you were there today, or else, with Doctor Jiang’s temperament, he might really bar me from coming here again!”

Pi Wan studied Fatty a few times and then ran over to make a private call. Less than two minutes later, the female secretary Fatty once saw jogged over. Fatty believed… her name was Miss Lin.

Miss Lin nodded to greet Fatty. Then, she handed Pi Wan a thick envelope. Pi Wan directly passed it over to Fatty. “Brother Fugui, this is a little something from me.” Pi Wan said, “If you need anything in the future, just inform me. I’ll do everything I can for you…”

With Pi Wan looking on in shock, Fatty shoved the envelope back. “Brother Pi Wan,” He licked his lips and smiled, “I can’t take this.”

Pi Wan looked awkward. “I don’t mean anything. Please don’t misunderstand me, Brother Fugui. I notice you live a spartan life. Take this and buy something for yourself. Maybe some clothes and shoes.”

Fatty looked at his clothes and smiled, “Thank you, but I think I’m fine.” He added, “The Doctor said he’d help me request a salary from Boss Lin next month, so I’ll be fine.” Fatty hesitated before adding, “Brother Pi Wan, actually, I agree with the Doctor. Being content is a virtue.” He looked at Pi Wan seriously, “Plus, we have to abide by the law of justice.”
