Chapter 10: Terrifying Effects

Within the living room, Ruofeng swallowed a piece of magical beast meat. In response to Jiraiya’s question, he chose not to answer but instead inquired, “So, chakra is extracted from within the cells. What is the deal with Hyorinmaru? How can there be chakra within the human body? And how does one quantify the amount of chakra one possesses?”

Ruofeng was puzzled. He knew that ninjas originated from chakra and that chakra itself came from the Divine Tree. More importantly, he was aware that chakra was originally exclusive to Daidoki Kaguya before being divided between Daidoki Hajime and Daidoki Hashimura.

The three had exclusive access to chakra, but Hajime created the Shinobi Sect and passed it on to many others. Over time, those who acquired chakra bore heirs who carried it in their bloodlines.

Ruofeng could not understand how the chakra from Cosmos Hagoromo remained within the body indefinitely, nor how one could enhance it through cultivation.

Faced with Ruofeng’s inquiry, Jiraiya hesitated slightly before responding, “Honestly, I do not know the exact mechanics. I only know that some people are born with chakra, while others are not. Those with chakra tend to have naturally powerful physiques, far surpassing ordinary people.

“As for Hyorinmaru, it is a substance that can rapidly boost cellular energy. However, due to its potent medicinal properties, it can also cause damage to one’s cells. Generally, a person can consume up to three pills a day; any more would be dangerous. Of course, those with exceptionally strong physiques may be able to handle a few more. On the other hand, for people whose chakra is already in a perfected state, consuming Hyorinmaru would be akin to eating regular food—it would simply sustain them.

“The amount of chakra a person has is not solely determined by their physique but by a combination of mental strength, physical strength, and bloodline. If you wish to walk the path of a ninja, you will inevitably encounter bloodline limitations. Different bloodlines grant unique physical traits and energies, which then converge to create specialized chakra, eventually forming unique abilities and jutsu. Thus, chakra’s strength and quantity are determined by bloodline, physique, and spiritual power.”

Ruofeng silently nodded, then continued eating the magical beast meat before stating indifferently, “I see. Let us attempt chakra extraction today.”

Jiraiya, still eating, shifted his gaze toward Sasaki and muttered, “What exactly is in this meat?”

Beads of sweat formed on Sasaki’s forehead. He had not anticipated that the meat Ruofeng provided would have such significant effects.

Ruo Feng explained, “This is not ordinary wild beast meat. It comes from a beast that has been fed medicinal herbs for years. Now that you are aware, do not spread the word. Even my family does not have much of it.”

Although Jiraiya had more questions, he chose to remain silent. He understood that everyone had their secrets. Instead, he looked at Ruo Feng and commented, “So that is how it is. It seems like there are hidden undercurrents.”

Ruofeng sniffed and responded, “Undercurrents? My family runs a hot spring business, along with some casinos and restaurants… but these are just ordinary establishments, not like the ninja Zans.”

Jiraiya chuckled lightly. “You will understand in time.”

Ruofeng shook his head, dismissing the thought. As he continued eating, he commanded, “Sasaki, prepare this red meat for me every day from now on.”

Jiraiya chuckled. “That is quite extravagant. Still, I am fortunate to have tasted it. However, keep in mind that the amount of chakra one can possess is not infinite—it has a limit. Pushing beyond that could rupture your chakra pathways. That being said, this meat does help strengthen the body, making it an excellent choice.”

Ruofeng nodded. “I understand all of that. In a few months, I will turn six and will be eligible to enter the ninja academy. You should make arrangements for me.”

Jiraiya was silent for a moment before responding, “You should discuss that with your grandfather. However, I must advise against taking the path of a ninja. Your father once said that he did not want you to become one.”

“Father…” Ruofeng laughed lightly. “The words of someone who has passed away do not dictate my future. I will follow my path. You are a Jonin and have a recommendation slot. I want to enter the elite class at the academy, not the regular classes. The teachings in regular classes are different, and later, when assigned teams, weak teammates lower the survival rate during missions.”

Jiraiya chuckled, swallowing the last piece of magical beast meat. “Do not worry. You are my nephew, and I will naturally recommend you for the elite class. Even if your qualifications were lacking, with the resources you have, reaching the level of a Jonin would not be difficult. However, your potential far surpasses that.”

Jiraiya’s serious tone surprised Ruo Feng. The expression on his face was far too mature for a five-year-old child.

Ruofeng looked at Jiraiya curiously. “It seems you know a lot about my background. How is it that I know none of this?”

It was strange. From Jiraiya’s tone, it was evident that his family was not ordinary. Yet, Ruofeng only had his grandfather, who appeared to be weak. Could it be that his parents, or perhaps his father, held more secrets?

Ruofeng suddenly recalled a hazy vision of a pair of scarlet Sharingan eyes when he was born.

Falling into deep thought, he remained silent. Jiraiya, on the other hand, laughed. “A child pretending to be mature—it is amusing! Spend the next few months refining your chakra properly. The method Tsunade gave you is not simple, and it is highly effective. However, due to your bloodline, it will be difficult to maximize its potential. The Senju Zan’s refinement technique produces chakra full of vitality, which greatly enhances healing. Since you do not have Senju blood, the vitality in your chakra will be limited. Even so, it is far superior to the standard chakra extraction method taught at the academy.”

With that, Jiraiya stood up. Despite his severe injuries from the previous day, he could now move freely. Although his steps were still a bit unsteady, the effect of the magical beast meat was undeniable.

Ruo Feng narrowed his eyes slightly. “The effects of magical beast meat are terrifying. Is this the power of the Doublestar World? Or the power of a Higher World? I wonder what the Kirin Exhaustion from the Tomb Raider’s Notebook will do.”

Muttering to himself, he watched Jiraiya leave. Then, turning to Sasaki, he ordered, “Buy refrigerators in bulk. Store the red meat properly. From now on, I want red meat for all three meals.”

Sasaki smiled. “Understood, young master.”
